Thanks to the fact that Geneva is the venue of the WTO on one hand and of numerous UN bodies and other international organizations on the other hand, civil society has developed, especially since the creation of the WTO in 1995, a number of specialized international environmental NGOs (IENGOS) which focus on trade & environment and also on wider global sustainable development concerns. The concentration of these resources with a global orientation is undoubtedly unique and represents one of the most precious assets of la Genève internationale.  The IENGOS listed are probably the most important ones in the trade & environment domain, each one has its own specific approach to these very complex issues, and all of them are highly valuable resources for anybody who takes an interest in global ecolomic policies, laws and wider issues.
